The higher Project Associate-I pay is tied to qualifying through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship), GATE or a national-level examination conducted by the Central Government. Read the exact wording in the official notice before assuming you qualify for that rate.

Project Assistant

  • Essential: a B.Sc. in Agriculture or Life Sciences, or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering and Technology, Computer or Information Technology.
  • Desirable: experience in field experiments, recording germplasm phenotyping and crop management data, and statistical analysis. Proficiency in MS Office is also listed.

How to apply

  1. Read the official notification PDF first and confirm your qualification and age for the post.
  2. Prepare a bio-data covering personal details, education and experience.
  3. Attach self-attested copies of the required documents.
  4. Write the post name in the email subject line.
  5. Email the complete application to the address given in the official notice by 5 October 2026. The summary we reviewed does not reproduce that address, so take it from the notice.

  7. If shortlisted, attend the interview on 12 October 2026 at ICAR-NBPGR, Pusa, New Delhi.

The official notice is available on the ICAR-NBPGR website. The general site is nbpgr.org.in.

Selection process and documents

Selection has two stages. Emailed applications are screened for basic eligibility, and shortlisted candidates are then called for the walk-in interview. No TA/DA is payable for attending. Originals must be shown for verification.

The documents listed include:

  • Matriculation or birth certificate as date-of-birth proof.
  • Degree certificates and consolidated mark sheets.
  • GATE or NET certificate, if claiming the higher Project Associate-I pay.
  • Experience certificates on letterhead, if applicable.
  • A category certificate in the Central Government format, if applicable.
  • Two passport-size photographs and a photo ID such as Aadhaar, Voter ID or PAN.

What to verify before you apply

  • Deadline conflict: one aggregator banner calls 12 October 2026 the last date and says the application window is open. The detailed section of the same page gives 5 October 2026 as the last date for email applications and 12 October as the interview date. This post treats 5 October as the application deadline and 12 October as the interview, but confirm both in the official notice.
  • Not confirmed here: the advertisement number, the reporting time, the interview room and the email address were not available in the material reviewed.
  • Contract length: the engagement lasts for the project period and depends on funding, as decided by the competent authority.
  • A different notice: NBPGR has another walk-in notice for SRF, Young Professional-II, Project Associate and Laboratory Assistant posts, with an interview reported for 15 October 2026. It is a separate project and not part of this recruitment.
