Is this a permanent job or an apprenticeship?

Neither. The notice calls the post purely temporary and contractual, with a tenure that ends with the approved project duration. It says the appointment gives no right to extension, absorption or preference for permanent recruitment at IIIT Nagpur. Treat it as a research-project role, which is a different route from a regular government job or a training apprenticeship.

Evidence notes

This post is based on the IIIT Nagpur notice (official PDF). The PDF's internal file title refers to a JRF notice dated 01-04-2024, but its content is the PA-I advertisement dated 01.10.2026. A job-listing aggregator also appeared in the research material. It carried only generic fellowship information and no IIIT Nagpur entry, so none of its details were used here.

FAQ

Can I still apply for this IIIT Nagpur PA-I post?

The notice's deadline was 5 PM on 12 October 2026, which was before 15 October 2026. No extension appears in the evidence. Check www.iiitn.ac.in for any corrigendum.

Which exams count for the national eligibility requirement?

GATE, CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) or a qualifying national-level examination conducted by central government departments, agencies or institutions listed in the notice.
