About the Notification

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) offers Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowships across various academic departments, centers, schools, and interdisciplinary programs. The typical tenure of the fellowship is one year, extendable up to two more years subject to satisfactory academic performance. Eligible candidates include recent Ph.D. graduates or those awaiting Ph.D. thesis examination. There is no closing date for applications. IIT Bombay's own Ph.D. students are not eligible.

Age Limit

General candidates: up to 32 years.

Age relaxation as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates.

Educational Qualification

1. Candidates with a recent Ph.D. degree.

2. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting examination.

3. IIT Bombay's own Ph.D. students are not eligible.

Salary Details

Consolidated salary: ₹80,000 per month with HRA as per Government of India norms (currently 30%).

Additionally, a non-lapsable contingency grant of ₹1,00,000 per annum is provided.

Selection Process

  • Applications are evaluated by academic units using a process similar to faculty selections.
  • Search committees hold regular meetings to consider applications and conduct invited seminars and/or interviews as required.
