How to apply online
- Read the full official advertisement and check your degree, age and typing speed against it.
- Open the application link provided through the Supreme Court website, www.sci.gov.in. Its recruitments page is the place to look.
- Fill in the form. Your name, parents' names and date of birth must match your Class X (High School) certificate or equivalent.
- Upload a recent photograph, your signature and the required documents: Class X, Class XII and graduation certificates, a caste or community certificate for reserved categories, and a disability certificate if applicable.
- Pay the fee online and submit. Check every detail first, because a submitted application cannot be withdrawn or modified, and a change of category is not entertained.
- Preview and print the form for your records. You do not need to send the printout to the Registry. Keep your application number, which is needed to download the admit card.
The notice does not print a direct application URL. Third-party sites show other links, which this page does not reproduce. Use the link published on the Supreme Court website. If you submit more than one form, only the one with the latest application number is considered.
Selection process and exam pattern
The notice lists four stages. The first three are tests with minimum qualifying marks, followed by an interview.
| Stage | Duration | Max marks | Minimum qualifying |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Objective Type Test (100 MCQs) | 1½ hours | 100 | 50 |
| 2. Typing Speed Test on computer, in English (35 w.p.m.; 3% mistakes allowed) | 10 minutes | 50 | 25 |
| 3. Descriptive Written Test in English (comprehension passage, precis writing, essay) | 2 hours | 100 | 50 |
| 4. Interview | Not specified | 25 | 13 |
Objective Type Test: question distribution
- General English, including a comprehension section: 20 questions
- General Aptitude: 15
- General Knowledge: 15
- Provisions relating to the Judiciary in the Constitution of India: 15
- Supreme Court Rules, 2013: 10
- Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961: 10
- Computer Knowledge: 15
Each wrong answer carries a negative mark of 0.25. Nearly a third of the questions (35 of 100) come from the judiciary, Supreme Court Rules and service-rules topics, so these deserve study time alongside the general papers.
Shortlisting rules
- If many candidates score 50 or more in the objective test, the merit list is used to shortlist candidates at 1:10 against the tentative vacancies for the typing and descriptive tests.
- The typing test is mandatory. Descriptive answer sheets are evaluated only for candidates who qualify in typing.
- Candidates who qualify in all three tests are called for interview at 1:3 against the tentative vacancies.
- Typing errors: a wrong word or figure counts as a full mistake. A wrong capital or small letter, or an omitted, added or substituted punctuation mark, counts as a half mistake.
Test centres and admit cards
The objective test will be held in the cities listed in Annexure-A of the notice. Candidates choose cities in order of preference, but the Registry may shift them to other cities. The typing and descriptive tests will be held in Delhi/NCR. The interview will be online or in Delhi, as directed by the competent authority.
Admit cards must be downloaded from the Supreme Court website and are not sent by post. No TA/DA is payable, and requests to change the centre or dates are not entertained. Keep an active mobile number and e-mail address, since test updates are sent by SMS and e-mail.
Answer key and objections
Answer keys are scheduled for upload on 22 November 2026. Objections can be raised online only, for Rs. 100 per objection, refunded if the objection is found valid. The competent authority's decision is final.
Other conditions to note
- Admission at every stage is provisional until documents are verified, and candidature can be cancelled if eligibility conditions are not met.
- Candidates working in Central or State Government departments, nationalised banks or PSUs must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at document verification.
- Candidates who are unemployed when they apply but get a job during the process must inform the Recruitment Cell at recruitment.cell@sci.nic.in.
- Persons with Disabilities can use concessions and a scribe as set out in the notice, with the prescribed certificates.
- Applications that do not follow the instructions are liable to be rejected.
What the notice does not say
- It gives no category-wise vacancy split.
- It gives no posting location. The listed cities are test centres, not job locations.
- It gives no dates for the typing test, descriptive test or interview.
- It gives no detailed syllabus beyond the question distribution above.
- It does not list a medical examination, although one third-party site mentions it.
The notice advises candidates to check the Supreme Court website regularly for updates.
