About the Notification
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) General Administration Department is conducting a multi-stage online examination in 2026 for promotion to the post of Chief Clerk (Eligible category). This promotion exam is based on the 7th Pay Commission revised pay scale M-23 (₹41,800 - ₹1,32,300). Employees currently working in various departments will get the opportunity for promotion from Executive Assistant (previously Clerk) and similar categories to Chief Clerk position.
This notification is meant only for eligible in-service employees holding Executive Assistant or equivalent designations in the departments governed by BMC rules.

Educational Qualification
Must have completed 5 years as Executive Assistant (previously Clerk) or equivalent. No distinction between graduates or non-graduates for eligibility.
Additional qualifications like DOEACC CCC certificate or MS-CIT or GECT from Maharashtra State Board recognized.
Must have passed Marathi language exams at secondary or equivalent level. BMC will conduct Marathi language exams where required.

Pay Scale

Selection Process
- Online multiple-choice objective examination
- Written test in Marathi and English grammar
- Final result compilation by agency based on marks
How to Apply
- Visit official website https://portal.mcgm.gov.in
- Click on “APPLY ONLINE” option.
- Select “Click here for New Registration”, enter Name, Contact, Email.
- Save Provisional Registration Number & Password sent via Email and SMS.
- Fill and submit application with necessary information.
- Scan and upload required Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression as per specifications.
- After completion, take printout for reference.
