About the Notification
The Government of West Bengal's School Education Department, Secondary Branch, has formulated the recruitment rules for 2025 to appoint Assistant Teachers in Government aided and sponsored schools at Upper Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary levels. The recruitment will be conducted by the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) and includes online application, written examination, interview, lecture demonstration, and counselling. Vacancy Details
Assistant Teacher posts are available for Upper Primary, Secondary (Classes IX & X) and Higher Secondary (Classes XI & XII) levels. Total vacancies and category-wise, subject-wise, medium-wise breakups will be published when available.

Age Limit
Minimum age: 21 years as on January 1 of the advertisement year.
Maximum age: 40 years
Age relaxation as per State Government norms for SC, ST, OBC, and PWD candidates.
Educational Qualifications
Minimum qualifications as prescribed by NCTE for Assistant Teachers in respective levels:
- Upper Primary: NCTE recognized certificate and passing of TET.
- Secondary (Classes IX & X): Graduate/Postgraduate degree with B.Ed.
- Higher Secondary (Classes XI & XII): Postgraduate degree in relevant subject with B.Ed.
- Language proficiency as per medium of instruction is mandatory.
