Selection process

Applications received by 15 October 2026 are first checked for eligibility. What follows depends on the number of applicants for each engagement:

  • More than five times the vacancy: SAIL may hold a computer-based, aptitude, general management or psychometric test. Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a 1:3 ratio based on test performance.
  • Fewer than five times the vacancy: all eligible candidates may be called directly for a personal interview.

Test and interview centres are allotted by management and cannot be changed. Admission at every stage is provisional, and joining depends on a medical fitness certificate. The test, interview and admit-card dates have not been announced; the source says they will be notified as per schedule.

Pay and benefits

The monthly retainership fee is Rs. 70,000 for YP-1, Rs. 1,00,000 for YP-2 and Rs. 1,40,000 for YP-3. An annual increment of 4%, 7% or 10% is given subject to performance. The notice also lists accommodation or a rent equivalent for outstation candidates (subject to availability, with no HRA), a communication allowance, medical benefits and insurance premium reimbursement, and tour entitlements by grade. It lists no PF, pension or gratuity.

Do not confuse this with SAIL's earlier Young Professional notice

A separate secondary-source report describes an earlier SAIL Young Professional advertisement for 23 posts at Rourkela Steel Plant and other units, with applications from 10 July to 31 July 2026. That window closed before 3 October 2026. It is a different notice with its own posts and selection details, so do not apply its conditions to the Kolkata advertisement above.

Official notification and evidence limits

The official advertisement PDF is available at sailcareers.com (Advt. No. CMO/YP/2026-01). The details above come from a published summary of that notice, not from the PDF itself. Fee exemptions, reservation, age relaxation, grade-wise experience and the contract term for this advertisement are not confirmed in the summary. Check the PDF for these before paying the fee.
