The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has been included in the World Athletics Global Calendar, as reported on 5 October 2026. Its 10th edition is scheduled for 29 November 2026 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. As of 5 October 2026 that race is still upcoming, not completed. According to the source, performances at the event will be eligible for consideration in World Athletics Rankings.

What happened and when

The source article is dated 5 October 2026 and says the marathon is in the Global Calendar "as of" that date. It does not say when World Athletics took the decision, so only the reporting date can be stated.

Why it matters

Recognition on the international road-racing calendar

World Athletics is the international governing body for athletics. Its Global Calendar lists recognised competitions and gives athletes, federations and administrators a common reference. The source says the marathon now joins the international road-racing calendar as a recognised event.

Link to rankings

The source says performances at the Ahmedabad race can be considered for World Athletics Rankings, which are used to compare athletes across recognised competitions. It does not explain how points or eligibility are calculated, so this post does not either.

What recognition involves

The source links road-race inclusion in the calendar with course measurement and certification, race operations, medical preparedness, timing and results, elite athlete management and anti-doping compliance. It does not give the details of Ahmedabad's own certification.

Ahmedabad Marathon profile

The source describes the event as having grown from a city event into a large participation race, with more than 24,000 runners in the previous edition. The 10th edition is to include four categories:

• Full Marathon: 42.195 km
• Half Marathon: 21.097 km
• 10 km Run
• 5 km Run

The marathon also continues its #Run4OurSoldiers initiative, which the source says has linked citizens and Armed Forces personnel for a decade.

Evidence limits

This post relies on a single secondary source, a GKToday article. The supplied Press Information Bureau page contains only navigation and unrelated release headings, with no mention of the marathon. The evidence therefore has no World Athletics or organiser statement, no inclusion label or tier, and no date for the inclusion decision. Check the official World Athletics calendar or the organisers' announcements before relying on finer details.
