How to convert CGPA to percentage
- Enter the CGPA from your grade card on a 10-point scale.
- Choose the formula your college or university uses. If yours is different, choose Another formula and enter it.
- Select Convert to percentage and check the working shown with the result.
Find your college’s formula
There is no single national formula. Your university or board sets it, and it can differ between schemes or batches. Look in these places, in this order:
- The back of your grade card or marksheet.
- Your university’s regulations or ordinance for your course and scheme.
- Your college office or the university’s examination section. Ask for a CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate if a recruiter or admission office needs proof.
Do not pick a formula because it gives a higher percentage. If you declare a percentage in an application, it must match the rule your university or the recruiting body accepts.
Common CGPA to percentage formulas
Most published formulas take one of these forms. They give different results for the same CGPA:
- CGPA × 9.5: 8.2 converts to 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.90%.
- CGPA × 10: 8.2 converts to 8.2 × 10 = 82.00%.
- (CGPA − 0.5) × 10: 8.2 converts to (8.2 − 0.5) × 10 = 77.00%.
- (CGPA − 0.75) × 10: 8.2 converts to (8.2 − 0.75) × 10 = 74.50%.
Some universities publish separate equations for different final grades, or a lookup table, instead of one formula. If yours does, use its official table.
CGPA, SGPA and percentage
SGPA is the grade-point average for one semester. CGPA is the cumulative average across semesters. Percentage is a share of maximum marks. Converting CGPA gives an equivalent figure under your institution’s rule; it is not a recalculation of your actual marks. If you know your marks, the marks-percentage calculator gives the percentage directly.
Using a converted percentage in a job application
Recruitment notices often set a minimum percentage, such as 50% or 60% in graduation. Read how the notice treats CGPA: some state the conversion they will use, and others ask for the university’s conversion certificate at document verification. Use that rule, not a general formula.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
Use the formula your college, university or board publishes. It is often printed on the back of the grade card or in the university’s regulations. Choose that formula in the calculator, or select Another formula and enter it.
Is there one CGPA to percentage formula for every college?
No. Each university or board decides its own formula, and it can change between schemes or batches. Two students with the same CGPA can have different percentages.
What if I cannot find my university’s formula?
Ask your college or the university’s examination section. Many universities issue a CGPA-to-percentage conversion certificate on request, and employers and admission offices may ask for that certificate.
Which percentage should I enter in a job application?
Follow the recruitment notice. If it asks for a percentage and your marksheet shows only CGPA, use your university’s official formula or conversion certificate, and keep that document ready for verification.
Is my CGPA saved?
No. The conversion runs in this browser tab. Your CGPA is not uploaded or stored.
