IISc Bengaluru Ranked 254th in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027

On September 30, 2026, the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027 were released, placing the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, at the 254th position globally. This represents a dip from IISc's previous standing in the 201–250 band during 2024 and 2025.

IISc Bengaluru’s Ranking Details

IISc Bengaluru secured an overall score of 57.0 in 2027. Its strongest category was the research environment, scoring 98.0, while it scored 62.1 in teaching and 58.6 in research quality. Despite the fall from the wider 201–250 band to a specific 254th rank, IISc remains the highest-ranked Indian institute in the ranking.
