MIST stands for Museum of Innovation, Startup & Technology. It is a planned museum at the NGEF campus in Baiyappanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The project focuses on India’s technology and entrepreneurship story.

Where is MIST being developed?

The foundation’s January 2026 project brief identifies an existing switchgear factory shed at NGEF for reuse. MIST and Innoverse are separate institutions planned within that site: MIST is the public museum; Innoverse is a government-led deep-tech incubator.

Who is developing and designing it?

The brief describes MIST as a public-private partnership: UnboxingBLR holds 51% and Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology holds 49%. Its governing body is the Karnataka Technology and Innovation Museum Foundation (KTIMF).

KTIMF’s 26 August 2026 architect announcement names three consortium members: Heneghan Peng Architects (HPARC), DROO and Cadence Architects. Their design reuses the industrial site.

When will MIST open?

The 12 January 2026 brief set targets of late 2027 for Phase 1 and late 2028 for Phase 2. These are dated development targets, not a confirmed public opening date. The August architect announcement does not confirm an opening.

For revision, separate the abbreviation and location from the project’s status. Do not describe a planned museum as already open. Check KTIMF’s announcements before using a future completion date in an answer.
