What is FORTRESS America?

Reshoring Critical Defence Materials

FORTRESS America mandates reshoring critical elements essential for defence production back to the United States. This includes rare earth elements, specialty metals, semiconductors, and propellants, which should be mined, refined, and manufactured domestically to decrease dependence on global supply chains.

Program Administration

A dedicated FORTRESS America Program Office is to be established within 30 days of the memorandum issuance, reporting directly to the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment. This office will integrate procurement, logistics, and sustainment under a unified administration to ensure efficient program execution.
