Short answer: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the written-part result of the Indian Economic Service (IES) Examination 2026 on 4 August 2026. The official PDF lists the roll numbers of candidates who qualified for the interview (Personality Test). It is a roll-number list, and the qualification is provisional. It is not a final selection list.

How to check the IES written result
Find your roll number in the PDF
- Open the official IES 2026 result PDF from the link on this page. It is hosted on upsc.gov.in and is also listed on UPSC's Written Results Archives page.
- Go to the section headed "Indian Economic Service" and look for your roll number among the numbers shown.
- If your roll number appears, you are shown as qualified for the Personality Test. The list shows roll numbers only, with no names or marks.
The press note does not say how to look up an individual score. It says mark-sheets will be uploaded only after the final result, which comes after the Personality Test.
What the press note says qualified candidates must do
Update details on the UPSC online portal
The note says UPSC would give a window of 15 days after the declaration of the written result. During that window, candidates who qualified for the interview must log in to the portal named in the note (upsconline.nic.in). They must update their details and educational-qualification status (appearing or appeared), and upload proof of passing the required qualifying examination. The note says candidates who do not do this will not be allowed to take part in further stages.
Candidates who had already uploaded everything and have nothing to change must still log in and finally submit after verifying their details. This generates the e-summon letter for the interview.
The window was tied to the declaration date of 4 August 2026. The evidence reviewed does not show whether the portal is open for updates now, so check the Commission's website instead of assuming it is.
Other details the portal allows candidates to update
- Correspondence and permanent postal address
- Higher educational qualifications and achievements
- Employment or service experience, and details of any service allocated through an earlier IES/ISS Examination
- Marital status, parental details, debarment information and earlier examination details
- PwBD recommendation details from the past, the OBC/EWS annexure where applicable, and the socio-economic questionnaire
Keep original documents ready
Candidates must produce original certificates for age, educational qualification, community, and benchmark disability where applicable, at the time of the Personality Test. The note says a candidate who fails to bring the required originals will not be allowed to appear before the Personality Test Board, and no travelling allowance will be paid.
Interview schedule and marks
- Interview dates: The note says the schedule will be uploaded on the UPSC website "in due course", and the exact date will be sent through the e-summon letter. The evidence reviewed contains no interview dates, so none are given here.
- Change of date: The note says requests to change the date or time of the Personality Test will ordinarily not be entertained.
- Mark-sheets: They will be uploaded after the final result and will stay available for 30 days. Candidates can access them with their roll number and date of birth.
- Printed mark-sheets: UPSC issues these on a specific request with a self-addressed stamped envelope, made within 30 days of the marks being displayed.
Help and limitations
The press note gives the Commission's call centre numbers as 011-40303444 and 011-24041001, available from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, for queries on this examination.
The evidence does not include cut-off marks, the number of vacancies, the final result date or interview dates. This article also cannot confirm whether the PDF or the portal is available at the moment you read it. The Written Results Archives page lists the file and shows a last-updated date of 6 October 2026, but that is not a confirmation of current portal access.
