Simha 4×4 Light Armoured Vehicle Unveiled at Eurosatory 2026
On June 16, 2026, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the wholly-owned defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, in partnership with Paramount, unveiled the Simha 4×4, a next-generation Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle (LAMV) at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, France. Developed as an ab initio design, the Simha 4×4 is tailored to meet evolving operational requirements across India, Africa, South Asia, and other markets. Sundarraj P appointed Inspector General of National Investigation Agency (NIA)
On 16 June 2026, Sundarraj P, a 2003-batch Indian Police Service officer and the longest-serving IPS in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region, was appointed as Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). India's Defence Production Hits Record ₹1.78 Lakh Crore in FY 2025-26
India achieved a landmark in indigenous defence production by reaching ₹1.78 lakh crore in the financial year 2025-26, marking a 15.6% growth over the previous year and more than a fourfold increase since FY 2013-14, when production was ₹43,746 crore. Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed about 76% of the production, while the private sector’s share rose to 24%, amounting to approximately ₹42,000 crore. Defence exports also hit a record ₹38,424 crore. This surge reflects India’s push towards self-reliance through initiatives like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and increasing private sector participation in defence manufacturing.

Indian Air Force to Participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia
Exercise Pitch Black 2026, hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), will take place from 20 July to 7 August 2026 in Australia's Northern Territory and Queensland. It is a biennial multinational air combat exercise involving complex combat-like scenarios. The Indian Air Force is among 19 allied and partner nations participating, alongside countries such as Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and South Korea. The exercise will be conducted at RAAF Bases Darwin and Tindal in the Northern Territory, and RAAF Base Amberley in Queensland, using one of the world’s largest military training areas.
