Passing of Renowned Odia Literateur and Former IAS Officer J. P. Das

Jagannath Prasad Das, popularly known as J. P. Das, was a distinguished Odia poet, playwright, art historian, and former Indian Administrative Service officer. He died on 3 June 2026 in Bhubaneswar at the age of 90. Born on 26 April 1936 in Puri district, Odisha, he joined the IAS in 1958 and notably served as the Collector of Kalahandi during the severe famine and drought of 1965–66.
