  4. Marjane Satrapi, Renowned Iranian-French Graphic Novelist and Filmmaker, Passes Away at 56

    Marjane Satrapi, acclaimed Iranian-French artist, director, and author of the graphic novel "Persepolis," died on 4 June 2026 at age 56. Born in Rasht, Iran, in 1969, she later became a French citizen in 2006 and lived in Paris.   5. Passing of Renowned Odia Literateur and Former IAS Officer J. P. Das

    Jagannath Prasad Das, popularly known as J. P. Das, was a distinguished Odia poet, playwright, art historian, and former Indian Administrative Service officer. He died on 3 June 2026 in Bhubaneswar at the age of 90. Born on 26 April 1936 in Puri district, Odisha, he joined the IAS in 1958 and notably served as the Collector of Kalahandi during the severe famine and drought of 1965–66. He took premature retirement from the IAS in 1984 to focus on literature and art. Das authored acclaimed literary works including poetry collections 'Prathama Purusha', 'Ahnika', and 'Parikrama', and the historical novel 'Desha Kala Patra'. He received the prestigious Saraswati Samman in 2006 and notably declined the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1990. His family donated his body to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical research as per his wishes.

  6. India's Expansion of Ethanol Flex-Fuel Network Targets 500 Pumps by 2026 and 5,000 by 2027

    India announced a phased rollout to establish 500 flex-fuel retail pumps by the end of 2026 and expand to approximately 5,000 outlets by 2027.
