UPI Payments Go Live in Cambodia Through KHQR Integration

On June 2, 2026, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) became operational in Cambodia by integrating with Cambodia’s national QR payment system, KHQR. This integration allows Indian tourists to use existing UPI-enabled mobile applications to scan KHQR codes and make payments at over 4.5 million merchant locations across Cambodia, including retail, restaurants, and tourist sites. It marks the first phase of a two-way interoperable payment corridor that will later enable Cambodian users to make payments in India at UPI merchant locations via KHQR-enabled applications. The launch was a result of partnership between NPCI International Payments Limited, the international arm of India’s National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and Cambodia’s ACLEDA Bank Plc. The formal inauguration occurred in Phnom Penh, attended by the Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia and representatives from the Reserve Bank of India.
