India’s First Private Medical Museum Opens in Thiruvananthapuram
On 25 May 2026, the Museum of Medical Archives was inaugurated in Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram, marking Kerala’s and India’s first private medical museum. Founded by A. Sivaraman, a former artist-modeler at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, the museum showcases handcrafted anatomical and embryological teaching models, paintings, microbiology archives, and photographs illustrating key medical education subjects such as fetal circulation, embryonic development, stages of mitosis, tooth formation, reproductive anatomy, heart development, and vascular structures. The museum preserves decades of medical teaching aids used in subjects including anatomy, embryology, pathology, microbiology, and history of medicine, enhancing medical education by providing three-dimensional, tangible models for study.
Inauguration of CHIRAG Centre for HR Excellence by Indian Railways

Notification of National Sports Board and National Sports Tribunal Rules, 2026

Discovery of Loktak Protocluster: A 12.6-Billion-Year-Old Galaxy Structure by Manipuri Astrophysicist Ronaldo Laishram
An international research team led by Manipuri astrophysicist Dr. Ronaldo Laishram discovered the Loktak Protocluster, a large-scale galaxy protocluster dating back approximately 12.6 billion years (redshift z ~4.9), when the Universe was about 1.2 billion years old. This protocluster comprises four interconnected galaxy concentrations and provides valuable insights into early cosmic structure formation and environmental effects on galaxy evolution. The discovery utilized data from the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii and the James Webb Space Telescope, and has been published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.
RBI forms Q-SAFE committee to assess quantum technology risks in banking

During the cooling-off period, directors cannot hold any position with the same bank except as a member or customer but may join another bank's board if eligible. Neelam Meena Appointed First Female Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal
On 25 May 2026, Neelam Meena, a 1998 batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, was appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal by the Election Commission of India (ECI). She is the first woman to hold this post in the state. The CEO oversees election administration, including electoral rolls and polling arrangements, under the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and 1951. Neelam Meena replaced Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who became the Chief Secretary of West Bengal. Prior to this role, Meena was Principal Secretary in the Consumer Affairs Department. As CEO, she will also serve as Principal Secretary in charge of the Election Department at the state secretariat.
India's First Official Freediving Team to Compete at 2026 World Apnea Pool Championship
India will participate for the first time with an official freediving team at the World Apnea Pool Championship scheduled from June 2 to 7, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary. The team comprises Archana Thiagarajan, Akshay Thatte, and Vachan H U.
