The initiative has funded 301 women researchers from 2,878 proposals submitted by 969 institutions, covering various scientific domains and producing significant research outputs.
India's Indigenous Airship-Based Surveillance Program to Strengthen Border Monitoring
India has initiated the Airship-based High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (AS-HAPS) programme focused on developing indigenous stratospheric airships for prolonged surveillance missions. With an estimated budget of ₹15,000 crore, the programme is managed by the Directorate of Operations (Remote) of the Indian Air Force under the Make-I procurement framework. It aims to enhance border monitoring, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and long-range communications through platforms operating at 20–30 km altitude in the stratosphere.
Tamil Nadu Launches Nalam TN Integrated Digital Healthcare Platform
On 14 July 2026, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister launched the Nalam TN portal, a unified digital platform consolidating government healthcare services in the state. The portal provides a single interface for patients, hospitals, and public institutions and integrates a monitored system for donations directly to government hospitals. Complementing this digital expansion is the existing NalamAI WhatsApp chatbot for outpatient appointment bookings, operational in several districts. Concurrently, healthcare projects worth ₹5139 crore were inaugurated, and appointment orders for 751 Assistant Medical Officers and 1,393 Health Inspectors were issued via the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Ladakh Initiates Premium Apricot Exports to UAE from July 2026
Ladakh is commencing its first large-scale fresh apricot export to the United Arab Emirates on 14 July 2026, marking a significant increase in horticultural exports from the region. This initiative involves the export of 1,000 metric tonnes of apricots, including the GI-tagged Raktsey Karpo variety and the local Halman variety, under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ladakh administration and Lulu Retail. Supported by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, this export venture aims to enhance farmers' income and boost Ladakh’s fruit economy through improved procurement, processing, and marketing channels.
Delhi Unveils Mayur as Mascot for Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships 2026

India will host the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting in Hyderabad on 15-16 July 2026 during its BRICS presidency. The meeting aims to enhance cooperation on labour markets, workforce skilling, social protection, and employment policies among BRICS nations — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Key agenda items include labour market formalisation, employability, skills development, and women’s workforce participation. Indian Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will deliver the keynote address. International organisations such as the International Labour Organization will also participate. The meeting will conclude with the adoption of a BRICS declaration. This event is part of India’s broader BRICS chairship theme: "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."
Rare Laudankia Vine Snake Documented in Udaipur after Nearly 30 Years
The Laudankia Vine Snake (Ahaetulla laudankia), an arboreal, mildly venomous species endemic to India, was documented in the Ubeshwar wildlife area of Udaipur, Rajasthan, on 12 July 2026. This marks the first record of the species in the Udaipur region in almost three decades, previously recorded by Dr. Satish Sharma. Known for its slender elongated body with a chestnut-brown coloration, fine black speckles, and pale white patches on the lower head, the species measures between 80 cm and 1.5 metres in length and is diurnal (active during the day). Its habitat includes dry deciduous forests, scrublands, and hill slopes within the biodiverse Aravalli landscape, highlighting the importance of conserving these ecosystems.
Uttarakhand inaugurates its first Geographical Indications (GI) Products Gallery
On 13 July 2026, Uttarakhand opened its first Geographical Indications (GI) Products Gallery at the Uttarakhand Forest Training Academy in Haldwani, showcasing more than 30 GI-tagged products of the state including agricultural produce like Ramnagar litchi and Ramgarh peach, and artisanal handicrafts such as Aipan art and Chamoli wooden Ramman masks. The initiative promotes awareness of GI products protected under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, supports preservation of traditional knowledge, and connects local producers to wider markets. Dhruva Space Receives ₹60 Crore Investment from Antariksh Venture Capital Fund

Two New Solitary Bee Species Discovered in Arunachal Pradesh

Indian Grey Hornbill Reintroduced to Gir Forests After Six Decades

A scientific study published in the journal Birds confirms that the hornbills are surviving and breeding in the wild. All India Water Secretaries’ Conference 2026 Held in New Delhi
