NEET Photo & Signature Size: Uploads, Postcard Photos & Checker

The NEET UG 2026 information bulletin distinguishes the uploaded passport photograph, signature, finger/thumb impressions and live photograph capture. The checker above supports the confirmed photograph and signature file limits. Fingerprint compression is unavailable because two passages in the bulletin give different size ranges.

Proportions are always kept.

Leave this unchecked to let large images fit the KB limit automatically. Entering a width or height locks your chosen dimensions.

Leave the minimum at 0 unless your form requires one. JPG gives transparent areas a white background. PNG keeps transparency and may need smaller dimensions. 1 KB = 1,024 bytes.

Uploaded photograph and signature

The official NEET UG 2026 bulletin, printed pages 16–17, specifies JPG/JPEG files: 10–200 KB for the passport photograph and 10–100 KB for the signature. It separately requires a live photograph during the application process.

Select the correct document before choosing an image. The checker’s limit changes with the document; a photograph-sized file is not automatically suitable for the signature field. Review the source’s appearance instructions yourself, including face visibility and background.

Prepare and preview the image

  1. Choose NEET UG, the 2026 cycle and the document you are preparing.
  2. Check the original file. Rotate it if needed and crop unnecessary borders.
  3. Set the output width while keeping all necessary content in the crop.
  4. Prepare the download. Check the reported size and look for blurred facial details or broken pen strokes.
  5. Use the downloaded JPEG in the corresponding official upload field and inspect that portal’s preview.

A lower byte count is not automatically better. Once the file fits the allowed range, unnecessary further shrinking can sacrifice useful detail. Keep the original so that you can make a fresh export if the portal reports a problem.

Passport and postcard photographs serve different purposes

The bulletin also tells candidates to retain passport photographs and 4 × 6 inch postcard photographs. Do not confuse this physical-photo instruction with a universal pixel requirement for an online upload. Pixel dimensions, centimetres or inches, and print resolution describe different properties.

This checker does not certify print size. When ordering prints, tell the photo provider which physical size is required and verify it against the relevant application, examination or counselling instructions.

Why finger and thumb checks are unavailable

The bulletin lists a 10–200 KB range for finger/thumb impressions and a 50–300 KB range in the following detailed passage. We have not treated one as an undisputed replacement for the other. Confirm the applicable range with NTA or the official portal before preparing that file.

Identity images and PDF certificates

The bulletin provides a separate identity-proof image rule for the specified non-Aadhaar/non-DigiLocker verification route. Use that preset only when it matches your document and verification method. Other certificates and verification documents can have different requirements.

This is an image tool, so it does not compress PDF certificates. Do not convert a required PDF to JPEG merely to use the compressor. For another application, choose its own preset in the exam image tool.
